Where Laughter, Learning, & Growth Thrive

Joining the Family Empowerment Centers team has given me an amazing opportunity to connect with so many unique, interesting, and exceptional people. Everyday coming into work, I know I’ll be met by friendly faces, laughter, silliness, and probably a soccer tournament too. It’s incredible to watch the children part of the after-school program embrace new ideas, explore their creativity, and build meaningful connections with peers. I feel so lucky to witness their personal journeys, knowing that my role helps them feel safe, supported, and encouraged every step of the way. During my time at FEC I hope to not only provide the children with support and resources, but at the very least a welcoming atmosphere where they know they are cared for and valued. A place they can always come to, where they can smile, regardless of the kind of day they have had. I believe the best growth takes place in environments where both leaders and children can learn from and support each other, which perfectly describes FEC. For instance, while I deliver lessons about God, social-emotional skills, and other valuable lessons, they teach me in return. Whether they are helping correct my Spanish and teaching me new words or telling me more about where they are from and what makes their culture special, I always go home knowing something I did not before. Being a part of the FEC community brings light to my day, and I strive to do the same for the children. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact on their lives, and I look forward to continuing to grow alongside the close-knit FEC community.
